Nicola Mitchell from the Older People’s Services at Dundee Volunteer & Voluntary Action explains……

We are continuing to recruit a team of Falls Prevention Ambassadors to work with the Health and Social Care Partnership in order to support and further develop the Falls Prevention Strategy to increase prevention and education and ultimately to reduce the number of falls instances in Dundee. In order to do this, we are recruiting a team of Falls Prevention Ambassadors including a steering group who will shape the way this programme moves forward.  The steering group will look broadly at what the current provision is and will work together to share ideas and actions that will help others prevent and recover from falls.

I have attached for you information our role descriptor showing some of the Ambassador roles we are looking to fill, along with a flyer for sharing with your networks and a registration form for you to complete.  As you will see, there are many roles for our Ambassadors to get involved in – some as straightforward as guiding others to a balance or strength programme or looking to see the best way to help people become more aware of what to do if they fall.  We are also seeking information from those who have experienced a fall or are close to someone who has fallen.  Or you might just be someone who is interested in being involved and can help to get the message out.

If you are interested in becoming a Falls Prevention Ambassador, then please complete the form attached and send in to Jud on  Alternatively, if you would like to find out more about the roles or would like to discuss this, you can get in touch with Jud on 07530 231588 or myself on 01382 305745 and we will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
