People with dementia, unpaid carers, and professionals and volunteers working with people with dementia and unpaid carers. Book now for Pre-Event Development Sessions in March 2021 These sessions will inform the online conference Community & Dementia, creating better lives in Tayside on 1st April 2021. The Conference is about people living with dementia in Tayside only.
The main event is expected to include storytelling sessions for people with dementia, unpaid carers, and professionals and volunteers working with people with dementia and unpaid carers. There will be sessions, of up to 15 participants, use a one-step removed approach, where people create a fictitious character as a way to allow them to share their lived experience and what matters to them.
Below is information on how to book storytelling sessions which precede the conference on Thursday 1 April 2021.In these advance events participants will be invited to gget to know each other through swapping stories; listen to traditional tales that might have something to say about care and about community; create a collective story that expresses some of the challenges of living with dementia and some of the solutions that could improve people’s lives.

Mon 22 March, 10.30 to 12 – people with dementia
Mon 22 March, 2 to 4 – staff/volunteers working with people with dementia &/or unpaid carers
Tues 23 March, 2 to 4 – unpaid carers of people with dementia.
Tues 23 Mar, 10 to 12.30 – train the trainer session re applied storytelling for staff/volunteers working with people with dementia and unpaid carers

Anyone who prefers to take part in a session on the telephone, rather than online, there are individual sessions with a storyteller with a similar format to the group session but likely to be shorter. These will be held 24 March 2021: 10.30am to 11am, or 1.30pm to 2.00pm.
